Nashville Bucket List

As we’re your link to all things Nashville, I have to tell you all about my weekend in one of the best cities:

It’s been a long time since I crossed something off of my bucket list! I spent the weekend in Nashville for my birthday and finally saw a show in the Ryman Auditorium! I’ve visited the auditorium/museum twice, once as a kid in 1998 and once in my early 20s around 2012 (just taking the tour), but I finally sat in the seats and enjoyed a show! For those that have never been or are unfamiliar, this isn’t a large arena (although you’d never guess that based on the big acts that come through). The Ryman has the capacity of a little over two thousand and looks more like a church or a high school auditorium, with a massive rich history! Even though it wasn’t a concert that I saw on Friday, it was Comedian Jim Gaffigan, it was still such an awesome experience to be in the intimate setting, where the history runs deep, experiencing the show with everyone around you! Definitely a must do experience, and I can’t wait to go back! (Below: my tour and visit to the Ryman in 2012. I have the same picture on stage with the same friend from 1998! I don’t think I was supposed to take that picture to the right of the Ryman, that was the view from our seats – so shhhh don’t tell 🙂 )

I rounded out the weekend with an afternoon at a two-story beercade. Two levels of arcade games, frozen cocktails made into popsicles, and Shel Silverstein all over the walls! They had the sign, “Don’t grow up, it’s a trap” on the wall, and I definitely felt like a kid in there (minus the whole frozen alcohol popsicle thing, but still ) Then on to Antique Archaeology to see what the American Pickers on History Channel had in the store! (PS there is a little shop next to them that serves HOMEMADE marshmallows! YUM!) Amidst all of the bachelorette parties and the growing downtown party scene, there is still plenty of rooted country music history and lifestyle. Nashville, you definitely have my heart! Next time, I’m coming for you, Blue Bird Café!
